It’s always exciting to find images close to home. This one is in a spot I’ve walked almost daily for 11 years. On this particular day the bridge I was on was in the ravine’s shadow on the left but the tall, bare trees on the right captured the late afternoon winter light and reflected it onto the stream below. The slight movement of the water created this wonderful textured reflection and gives the feeling of liquid gold paint being drizzled all over the surface. I noticed this without my camera, took an iPhone shot to see if it would work as I envisioned and then rushed home to grab my gear. I stood on the bridge, hanging over the edge for a while, mesmerized by the patterns the water was creating.
