I often imagine what it was like for the early homesteaders, to stand under night skies unpolluted from the lights of distant towns and industry. To see the night sky as it was meant to be, relaxing after a hard days work of plowing the fields and breaking the land. As dark as the skies were this night, the lights on the horizon were a reminder of just how much has changed and how light pollution remains such an under-discussed topic of environmental concern.
