On August 5th, 2020 I lost my dog - and best friend - Kneesa 11 years and 1 day after i first brought her home. It was one of the hardest losses I've ever experienced in my life. On August 6th, I went storm chasing with my good friend Mark Jinks to help take my mind off of the overwhelming grief I was experiencing. There's something raw and cathartic about storm chasing; standing under churning clouds and nature's fury allows us moments to be angry with the gods and scream to the heavens. Being in the chase, standing in the tall grass, and witnessing the storm took my mind off my loss, even for the briefest of times, and reminded me just how important nature photography is to my mental health.
