When I was really little my uncle would travel a lot for work. Japan, Russia, the Middle East...places that seemed so exotic to a little prairie kid. I remember being at an airport when I was two or three, either picking him up or dropping him off with my family, and seeing a telephoto image of a mountain with a moon during alpenglow hanging near a window. For some reason that image has stuck with me my whole life and is one I’ve thought of numerous times during my own photography journey. I have no idea who the photographer was or even how accurate my recollection of it is but I’ve been hoping to catch something similar for a long time. Finally I did. So here’s my homage to an unknown photographer who sparked my imagination 40 years ago and who continues to inspire.
