Prairie Sentinel

During this particular northern lights show I spent most of my night at a special, quiet location shooting the aurora reflecting in a calm lake but as the night went on, I went off in search of new comps. This old elevator is one I’d driven past many a time and always wanted to shoot and thankfully it was fairly close by. I whipped over trying to stay ahead of the clouds. As I approached the aurora was spiking again and I hoped it would hold. I pulled in, grabbed my gear which was still set up, got into position and managed to fire off one clean shot before the aurora moved past and the clouds swallowed the sky. This is my favourite shot of the night. A rare but classic prairie scene often overlooked in the hustle and bustle of today’s modern life.
