Tatooine Nights

Full disclosure, this shot is a composite. It’s the first and one of the only composites I’ve done as I’m really not a fan of them, especially ones that depict impossible scenes. However, this is the exact scene I was trying for when I visited the Imperial Dunes in California back in March 2018. I timed everything out just right for this very shot only to be skunked by low level cloud that obscured the core of the milky way. While working on improving my Photoshop skills i decided to make this for fun and am pretty happy with the way it turned out and it only makes me want to go back to try again. The sky photo was taken only a couple of nights before in Joshua Tree which was some of the best milky way viewing I’ve ever had.
