Finding spots in Alberta that haven’t been shot to death can be a challenge. I knew of this particular location based on some google maps scouting but had yet to make it there. I remembered it on a recent trip through the area and decided to make a detour to see these falls. I wasn’t disappointed. I lost myself for over two hours exploring what felt like endless compositions.

I was particularly excited about this shot. The powerful flow of the falls, the shapes and the range of colours – cool water, golden rocks, a hint of green – really stood out to me. Then as I was exporting the file my cursor hovered over a black and white preset. Damn. The entire photo changed. Powerful. Dynamic. Impactful. So after all the excitement about the colour image, I ended up falling in love with the BNW.
