For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the stars...
Growing up at the end of a dirt road in the middle-of-nowhere Saskatchewan meant dark skies each and every clear night. Whether it was on long winter drives home, watching the aurora dance across the frozen fields or warm summer nights gazing at the core of our Milky Way galaxy as long prairie grasses shifted in the breeze around me, the stars have always reset my soul.
This is precisely why they were the first thing I set out to photograph when I got my first DSLR. I actually taught myself photography with the night sky! And over the past six years I’ve worked hard to refine my astrophotography skills and have created a diverse portfolio of images from under the stars and around the continent.
After years of being asked if I offer astro workshops, I’m incredibly excited to now offer a series of different night sky photography workshops to suit all skill levels of photographers! Each workshop is geared towards either one-on-one or small group participation, meaning you’ll come away with a hands-on experience tailored towards your level of understanding and focused on your success.

"I've had a lot of experience shooting other types of photography but was a total newbie when it came to photographing anything to do with the night sky/stars. Shane really helped me learn the basics of what I needed to get great night shots. A lot more goes into it then just going out and taking the photos. He helped me with location planning, the right time to go, techniques while out on location and even editing as well. I would highly recommend Shane as a teacher if you are just starting from scratch or even an experienced night sky photographer looking to brush up your skills.”
