There’s nowhere I’d rather be during the summer months than in front of a beautiful supercell as it barrels across the prairies. Our 2024 storm season in Alberta was lacklustre to say the least but August 5th more than made up for it. It’s almost as if Mother Nature was saving it all for one big show. Unfortunately this storm did a lot of damage. Golf to tennis ball sized hail and intense winds battered a large swath of Alberta as this beast tracked for hundreds of kilometres. I was on it from west of Cochrane to highway 21 just NE of Strathmore. Over 120km over 2.5 hours. I have a few great shots from this chase. But this is my favourite.
