Hope Springs Eternal

Back in Sept 2023 my friend Marie asked me if I’d like to join her on a “little after work hike, maybe about 6km.” There was a promise of wonderful terrain and a waterfall that was rarely seen. I was in! But what she neglected to tell me is that it was 6km each way! In what proved to be an unexpectedly long test run on my surgically repaired foot in brand new hiking boots and with a heavy pack, I made the 13km round trip trek with great aplomb. While sore at the end of the journey, I was nowhere near as sore as I expected to be and returned with a full heart at having made the trip, grateful that the second surgery worked and that I was able to get back to exploring cool places, experiencing pain free walking for the first time in a few years.
